I still can't believe it… I knew Willy my whole life, from him looking after us as kids, our holiday’s to Pontins (him making me queue in the kid’s food section for sausages and beans for him every day), to growing up with him and going on some great days out. The blues just won’t be the same without him. I think it will really hit home that first game and not seeing him with a pint in his hand.
One memory that I love of him is when Katie and I went away to Blackpool for the first time together (20 years ago…) We headed for the pub and as we got in, it was loud and people were on the tables singing etc… We were about to turn back round and head out to somewhere else, when I spotted Willy in the middle of it all… Stood on a table singing “you got the music in you” I had no idea he was up in Blackpool, so we stayed with him and had a great day… As you always did when you were with Willy! He was that type of man, you knew you were going to have a laugh when he was around.
Ever since then, whenever I heard the song I always thought of Willy and now I will forever...
